The Canton of Hesdin is a former canton situated in the department of the Pas-de-Calais and in the Nord-Pas-de-Calais region of northern France. It was disbanded following the French canton reorganisation which came into effect in March 2015. It consisted of 22 communes,[1] which joined the canton of Auxi-le-Château in 2015.[2] It had a total of 10,805 inhabitants (2012).[1]

Geography


The canton is organised around Hesdin in the arrondissement of Montreuil. The altitude varies from 11 m (Tortefontaine) to 133 m (Chériennes) for an average altitude of 55 m.

Der Kanton Hesdin war bis 2015 ein französischer Kanton im Arrondissement Montreuil, im Département Pas-de-Calais und in der Region Nord-Pas-de-Calais; sein Hauptort war Hesdin. Vertreter im Generalrat des Départements war zuletzt von 2008 bis 2015 Robert Therry. Der Kanton Hesdin war 138,66 km² groß und hatte 11.130 Einwohner (Stand: 2006), was einer Bevölkerungsdichte von rund 80 Einwohnern pro km² entsprach. Er lag im Mittel 55 Meter über Normalnull, zwischen 11 Metern in Tortefontaine und 133 Metern in Chériennes.
