Il comune è stato riformato in seguito alla riforma amministrativa del 1º gennaio 2007 accorpando i precedenti comuni di Langebæk, Møn e Præstø.
Geografia fisica
Vordingborg si trova a 37 km da Nykøbing, circa 50 da Gedser, e 100 da Copenaghen.
La cittadina sorge sull'isola di Sjælland, nelle vicinanze con l'isola meridionale di Falster. Ad essa è unita tramite un ponte autostradale ed uno su una strada statale, lo "Storstrømsbroen". La città si trova inoltre sulla Strada Europea E55 Helsingborg-Calamata.

Vordingborg Kommune ist eine dänische Kommune auf den Inseln Seeland und Møn. Sie entstand am 1. Januar 2007 im Zuge der Kommunalreform durch Vereinigung der „alten“ Vordingborg Kommune mit den bisherigen Kommunen Langebæk, Møn und Præstø, alle im Storstrøms Amt.[en] Vordingborg Municipality
Vordingborg (Danish pronunciation: [ˌvɒːte̝ŋˈpɒˀ]) is a municipality (kommune) in the Sjælland Region, which is on the southeast coast of the island of Zealand (Sjælland) in south Denmark. It was established in 2007. The municipality covers an area of 621 km2. It has a total population of 46,600 (2006). Its fourth and current mayor is Mikael Smed of the Social Democrats, who was elected in 2017, replacing Michael Seiding Larsen of the agrarian-liberal Venstre party.- [it] Comune di Vordingborg
