Červené Janovice is located about 13 kilometres (8 mi) south of Kutná Hora and 57 km (35 mi) southeast of Prague. It lies in the Upper Sázava Hills. The territory is rich on ponds, fed by minor watercourses.
The first written mention of Červené Janovice is from 1352.[2] It was called Janovičky up to the 18th century.[3]
The main landmarks are local Baroque chateau, Church of St. Martin in the Romanesque revival style, and a statue of St. John of Nepomuk.
