Geography
Gams lies in a tributary valley of the Enns and the Salza in upper Styria. It lies in the western foothills of the Hochschwab.

Gams bei Hieflau ist eine Ortschaft in der Gemeinde Landl (Gerichtsbezirk bzw. Bezirk Liezen, nördliche Obersteiermark). Bis Ende 2014 war Gams bei Hieflau eine Gemeinde mit 561 Einwohnern (Stand 1. Jänner 2014). Im Rahmen der Gemeindestrukturreform in der Steiermark ist Gams seit 2015 mit den Gemeinden Landl, Palfau und der (im Bezirk Leoben liegenden) Gemeinde Hieflau zusammengeschlossen,[1] die neue Gemeinde führt den Namen Landl weiter. Grundlage dafür ist das Steiermärkische Gemeindestrukturreformgesetz – StGsrG.[2] Eine Beschwerde, die von der Gemeinde gegen die Zusammenlegung beim Verfassungsgerichtshof eingebracht wurde, war nicht erfolgreich.[3]- [en] Gams bei Hieflau
