Geografia fisica


La contea confina a nord con la contea di Genesee, a est con la contea di Livingston, a sud-est con la contea di Allegany, a sud-ovest con la contea di Cattaraugus e a ovest con la contea di Erie.


Storia


I primi abitanti del territorio della contea furono gli indiani irochesi. Quando furono istituite le Province di New York nel 1683 l'area dell'attuale contea faceva parte della contea di Albany.

La contea è stata istituita nel 1841 separandone il territorio da quello della contea di Genesee.

Nel 1840 un gruppo di abolizionisti, riunitosi nella chiesa di Warsaw, fondò il partito abolizionista Liberty Party che partecipò alle elezioni presidenziali del 1840 e del 1844.

Wyoming County[1] ist ein County im Bundesstaat New York der Vereinigten Staaten. Bei der Volkszählung im Jahr 2010 hatte Wyoming County 42.155 Einwohner und eine Bevölkerungsdichte von 27,5 Einwohnern pro Quadratkilometer. Der Verwaltungssitz (County Seat) ist Warsaw.

Wyoming County is a county in the U.S. state of New York in the state's western area. As of the 2020 census, the population was 40,531.[2] The county seat is Warsaw.[3] The name is modified from a Lenape (Delaware) Native American word meaning "broad bottom lands". Wyoming County was formed from Genesee County in 1841. Wyoming County is one of New York's mostly agricultural counties. With an estimated 47,500 dairy cows in the county, there are more cattle in Wyoming County than people.[4]
