La popolazione al censimento del 2010 era di 929 abitanti:[1] si tratta quindi della settima contea meno popolosa dello stato texano. Il capoluogo di contea è Miami, che è l'unica città della contea, escludendo Wayside, che è una comunità non incorporata.[2] La contea è stata creata nel 1876 ed organizzata nel 1889.[3] Il suo nome deriva da Oran Milo Roberts, governatore del Texas.
