      Monroe ist eine Stadt im US-Bundesstaat Michigan. Die Bevölkerung betrug bei der Volkszählung 2020 20.462 Einwohner. Es ist die Kreisstadt des Monroe County. Die Stadt grenzt im Süden an das Monroe Charta Township, aber beide Städte sind politisch nicht voneinander abhängig. Die Stadt liegt etwa 23 km nördlich von Toledo (Ohio) und 40 km südlich von Detroit. Das United States Census Bureau listet Monroe als Mittelzentrum in der Monroe-Metropolitan Area, die im Jahr 2009 eine Bevölkerung von 152.721 Einwohnern aufwies. Monroe selbst ist offiziell Teil der Detroit-Ann Arbor-Flint Combined Statistical Area. Monroe wird manchmal auch inoffiziell als nördlichster Teil der Toledo Metropolitan Area gezählt.

      Monroe is the largest city and county seat of Monroe County in the U.S. state of Michigan. Monroe had a population of 20,462 in the 2020 census.[4] The city is bordered on the south by Monroe Charter Township, but the two are administered autonomously. Monroe is the core city in the Monroe metropolitan statistical area, which is coterminous with Monroe County and had a population of 154,809 in 2020.[5] Located on the western shores of Lake Erie approximately 14 miles (23 km) north of Toledo, Ohio and 25 miles (40 km) south of Detroit, the city is part of the Detroit–Ann Arbor–Flint combined statistical area.
