Selon le recensement de 2010, Georgetown compte 1 034 habitants[1]. La municipalité s'étend sur 1,16 milles carrés (3 km2)[1].
La ville est nommée en l'honneur de George Griffith, qui y découvrit de l'or[2].

The historic Town of Georgetown is the territorial charter municipality that is the county seat of Clear Creek County, Colorado, United States.[1] The town population was 1,118 at the 2020 United States Census.[3] The former silver mining camp along Clear Creek in the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains was established in 1859 during the Pike's Peak Gold Rush. The federally designated Georgetown-Silver Plume Historic District comprises Georgetown, the neighboring town of Silver Plume, and the Georgetown Loop Historic Mining & Railroad Park between the two towns.
