Geauga County (/dʒiˈɔːɡə/ jee-AW-gə) is a county in the U.S. state of Ohio. As of the 2020 census, the population was 95,397.[3] The county seat is Chardon.[4] The county is named for an Onondaga or Seneca language word meaning 'raccoon',[5] originally the name of the Grand River. Geauga County is part of the Cleveland-Elyria, OH Metropolitan Statistical Area. In 2008, Forbes Magazine ranked Geauga County as the fourth best place in the United States to raise a family.[6] About 20% of the county's population is Amish, as of 2017[update].[7]
