Histoire
Le comté de Monmouth a été fondé en 1675. Le nom était proposé par le colonel Lewis Morris. Il avait proposé le nom en hommage à Monmouthshire, pays de Galles. En 1714, le premier gouvernement était fondé. Lors de la bataille de Monmouth, le , les soldats de George Washington battaient les Britanniques durant la guerre d'indépendance des États-Unis.

Monmouth County (/ˈmɒnməθ/) is a county located on the coast of central New Jersey. The county is part of the New York metropolitan area and is situated along the northern half of the Jersey Shore. As of the 2020 U.S. census, the county's population was 643,615, making it the state's fifth most populous county,[2] representing an increase of 13,245 (2.1%) from the 2010 census, when the population was counted to be 630,380, which, in turn, represented an increase of 15,079 from 615,301 at the 2000 census.[3] As of 2010, the county fell to the fifth-most populous county in the state, having been surpassed by Hudson County.[4][5] Monmouth County's geographic area comprises 30% water.- [fr] Comté de Monmouth
