Die erste kommerzielle Eisenbahnstrecke der USA wurde am 24. Mai 1830 zwischen Ellicott City und Baltimore eröffnet. Der Bahnhof Ellicott City Station ist der älteste erhaltene Bahnhof der USA.[2]
