Rotherham sorge lungo le rive del fiume Don, ad 11 km a nord-est di Sheffield.


Storia


Nel 2014 scoppiò lo scandalo di 1 400 bambini abusati, tra il 1997 e il 2013 nella cittadina nell'Inghilterra del Nord. Gli arrestati in gran parte appartenevano alla comunità pachistana del luogo.[1]

Sie liegt im Don-Tal zwischen Sheffield und Doncaster. Rotherham ist ca. 10 km vom Stadtzentrum von Sheffield entfernt und ist der Verwaltungssitz des Metropolitan Borough of Rotherham. Die Stadt hat 117.262 Einwohner (Stand: 2001). 248.176 Einwohner hat der Rotherham District einschließlich der Metropolregion um Rotherham.[1] Weltweit bekannt wurde die Stadt durch den Missbrauchsskandal von Rotherham.

Rotherham (/ˈrɒðərəm/ (listen))[1] is a large minster and market town in South Yorkshire, England. The town takes its name from the River Rother which then merges with the River Don. The River Don then flows through the town centre. It is the main settlement of the Metropolitan Borough of Rotherham. Rotherham is also the third largest settlement in South Yorkshire after Sheffield and Doncaster, which it is located between.
