Diss ist eine Kleinstadt im Distrikt South Norfolk in der Grafschaft Norfolk, Ostengland. Es liegt im Tal des Flusses Waveney, um einen See, der eine Fläche von 24.000 m² und eine Tiefe von 5 m aufweist, wobei er weitere 16 m Schlamm besitzt. Er ist einer der tiefsten natürlichen Binnenseen in England. Die Stadt erhielt ihren Namen von der altenglischen Bezeichnung für „See“ oder auch einem alten Wikingerwort mit der Bedeutung „Dorf des Tanzenden Pferdes“. Im Jahr 2001 hatte sie 6742 Einwohner.[1]

Diss is a market town and electoral ward in South Norfolk, England, near the boundary with Suffolk, with a population of 7,572 in 2011.[1] Diss railway station is on the Great Eastern Main Line between London and Norwich. It lies in the valley of the River Waveney, round a mere covering 6 acres (2.4 ha) and up to 18 feet (5.5 m) deep, although there is another 51 feet (16 m) of mud.[2]
