    La ville se nommait Dablar[1], étant un grand village en Bithynie, conquise par les Ottomans entre 1289 - 1293. Elle a ensuite été appelée Yenice Tarakçı "Nouveaunommé Tarakçı (vendeur de peigne)". La mosquée Yunus Paşa a été construite en 1517 par ordre du vizir Yunus Paşa.

    Taraklı ist eine Stadtgemeinde (Belediye) im gleichnamigen Ilçe (Landkreis) der Provinz Sakarya und gleichzeitig eine Gemeinde der 2000 geschaffenen Büyüksehir belediyesi Sakarya (Großstadtgemeinde/Metropolprovinz) in der Türkei. Seit der Gebietsreform 2013 ist die Gemeinde flächen- und einwohnermäßig identisch mit dem Landkreis. Der Ort liegt etwa 40 Kilometer südlich des Zentrums der „alten“ Provinzhauptstadt Adapazarı.

It is surrounded by forest and located approximately midway between Istanbul and Ankara in the Sakarya Province of the Marmara region. The district governor is Ömer Yılmaz, and the mayor is Tacettin Özkaraman (AKP).
