Base aeronavale militare
Dal 1953 è sede territoriale della base aeronavale militare statunitense della U.S. Navy[1]. L'uso delle installazioni militari è congiunto con la Armada Española.
Ha ospitato sino al 2006 il sistema d'antenna di sorveglianza Wullenweber.

The town of Rota is a Spanish municipality located in the Province of Cádiz, Andalusia. Its surface area is 84 km2 and is bordered by the towns of Chipiona, Sanlúcar de Barrameda and El Puerto de Santa María. It is located near the city of Jerez de la Frontera and is 36 kilometers away from the provincial capital, Cadiz. It had in the year 2009 28,516 inhabitants, with a density of 339 inhabitants / km2. It belongs to two associations, the Association of Municipalities of Cadiz Bay along with the municipalities of Cadiz, Jerez de la Frontera, El Puerto de Santa María, San Fernando, Chiclana and Puerto Real; and the Association of Municipalities of the Lower Guadalquivir that comprises municipalities of Northwest Coast of Andalusia.[es] Rota
La villa de Rota es un municipio español y ciudad española situada en la provincia de Cádiz, en la comunidad autónoma de Andalucía. Su extensión superficial es de 84 km² y limita con las ciudades de Chipiona, Sanlúcar de Barrameda y El Puerto de Santa María. Se encuentra situada a una altitud de 9 metros y a 51 kilómetros de la capital de provincia, Cádiz. En el año 2012 contaba con 29 094 habitantes, con una densidad de 339,44 hab/km². Según el INE, a fecha de 1 de enero de 2017 contaba con 28 996 habitantes. Pertenece a dos mancomunidades, la Mancomunidad de Municipios Bahía de Cádiz;[2] de la que forma parte desde el año 1997[3] junto a los municipios de Cádiz, Jerez de la Frontera, El Puerto de Santa María, San Fernando, Chiclana de la Frontera y Puerto Real, y la Mancomunidad de Municipios del Bajo Guadalquivir que la conforman, entre otros, municipios de la Costa Noroeste.[fr] Rota (Cadix)
