    Étymologie


    Son nom vient de l'arabe avec la signification de "le fortifié". Le gentilé adnamantino a relation avec le nome Adnumantia, donné par les Romains. Ce nom veut dire à Numance, car la ville est situé dans la route allant à la ville numantine.

    Un traité de paix entre Pierre IV, roi d'Aragon, et Henri de Trastamare, roi de Castille, y fut signé en 1375.


    La commanderie hospitalière

    Les Hospitaliers de l'ordre de Saint-Jean de Jérusalem y ont établi une commanderie au XIIIe siècle[1] implantée autour de l'église Saint-Jean d'Acre d'Almazán dont la donation remonte au siècle précédent, et il y avait également une commanderie du même ordre à Soria[2],[3].

    Almazán (arabisch befestigter Ort) ist eine Kleinstadt und eine aus dem Hauptort sowie mehreren Dörfern und Weilern (pedanías) bestehende nordspanische Gemeinde (municipio) mit 5.489 Einwohnern (Stand 1. Januar 2019) in der Provinz Soria in der Autonomen Gemeinschaft Kastilien-León. Almazán ist die zweitgrößte Stadt in der Provinz Soria und gehört wie diese insgesamt zur bevölkerungsarmen Serranía Celtibérica.

    Almazán (Spanish pronunciation: [almaˈθan]) is a municipality located in the province of Soria, Castile and León, Spain. As of 2013, the municipality has a population of 5,843 inhabitants. It is also the seat of the judicial district of Almazán, and ecclesiastically it belongs to the Diocese of Osma, a suffragan diocese of the Archdiocese of Burgos.[2] Connected via the Autovía A-15 and Carretera nacional N-111, it is situated 194 kilometres (121 mi) by road northeast of Madrid. The town lies on the east bank of the Duero river.
