Alburquerque ist eine Kleinstadt und eine Gemeinde (municipio) mit 5.343 Einwohnern (Stand: 2019) in der spanischen Provinz Badajoz in der Autonomen Gemeinschaft Extremadura. Der Ortskern von Alburquerque wurde im Jahr 1998 als Conjunto histórico-artístico klassifiziert. Der arabisch klingende Name könnte auch lateinischen Ursprungs sein: albus quercus = „weiße Eiche“.

It is very close to the border with Portugal and was an ancient dominion of the kings of that country. The origin of the name of the town is uncertain. It is believed to stem from Latin alba quercus "the white oak".[2]
