È stata istituita nel 2016 a seguito dell'accorpamento di tre distinte municipalità locali: Baviaans, Camdeboo e Ikwezi. In base al censimento del 2011 la sua popolazione era di 79.291 abitanti (dato risultante dall'aggregazione delle municipalità locali accorpate).

La sede amministrativa e legislativa è la città di Graaff-Reinet e il suo territorio si estende su una superficie di 7.229 km² ed è suddiviso in 6 circoscrizioni elettorali (wards). Il suo codice di distretto è EC101.

Dr Beyers Naudé (englisch Dr Beyers Naudé Local Municipality) ist eine Lokalgemeinde im Distrikt Sarah Baartman der südafrikanischen Provinz Ostkap. Der Verwaltungssitz der Gemeinde befindet sich in Graaff-Reinet. Bürgermeister ist Deon de Vos.[1]

Dr Beyers Naudé Local Municipality is a new local municipality that was established by merging the Camdeboo, Ikwezi and Baviaans local municipalities in the Sarah Baartman District of the Eastern Cape in South Africa. The decision to merge the municipalities was taken by the Municipal Demarcation Board in 2015 but only took effect after municipal elections on 3 August 2016. The new municipality is named after the Afrikaner cleric and anti-apartheid activist Beyers Naudé.[3] Its seat is in Graaff-Reinet.
