The municipality lies at an altitude of 593 meters and covers an area of 9.03 km2. It has a population of 306 people (as of 31 December 2015).[citation needed]
In historical records the village was first mentioned in 1286. Its first name had been Stragar, later it had been known under the name Buschendorf. In 1945 its German population was expelled.
Most important sights to see are the evangelical neo gothic and Roman Catholic gothic churches and a baroque manor house.
