Mitkin is located in forest steppe, on Khopyorsko-Buzulukskaya Plain, on the Rastverdyayevka River, 48 km southwest of Kumylzhenskaya (the district's administrative centre) by road. Andreyanovsky is the nearest rural locality.[3]
