Al censimento del 2001 la popolazione di Rewa assommava a 183.232 persone, delle quali 98.476 maschi e 84.756 femmine. I bambini di età inferiore o uguale ai sei anni assommavano a 23.909, dei quali 12.678 maschi e 11.231 femmine. Infine, coloro che erano in grado di saper almeno leggere e scrivere erano 130.691, dei quali 76.580 maschi e 54.111 femmine.[5]

Sie liegt in der Region Baghelkhand im Nordosten Madhya Pradeshs. Die Stadt wurde um 1400 von Baghel Rajputs (Kriegerkaste) gegründet. Die Stadt ist Verwaltungssitz des Distriktes Rewa und war ab 1597 die Hauptstadt des Fürstenstaates Rewa, von 1871 bis 1931 die Hauptstadt der Baghelkhand Agency und von 1948 bis 1956 von Vindhya Pradesh. Rewa liegt ca. 130 Kilometer südlich von Prayagraj. Der Name stammt vom Fluss Narmada ab, der auch Rewa genannt wird.[en] Rewa, Madhya Pradesh
Rewa is a city in north-eastern part of Madhya Pradesh state in India. It is the administrative center of Rewa District and Rewa Division. The city lies about 420 kilometres (261 mi)[3] northeast of the state capital Bhopal and 230 kilometres (143 mi) north of the city of Jabalpur. The maximum length of Rewa district is 125 km from east to west and the length of Rewa from north to south is 96 km. This area is surrounded by Kaimur hills in the south direction[4] and Vindhyachal ranges pass through the middle of the district.
