Waltangoo is a famous village in Kashmir because of Great saint (syed Noor Shah Wali Bagdadi)[5] and with the seasonal spring (Vasaknag)[6]
On February 22, 2005, snow storm killed 175 people in Waltengo Nar in Kulgam district. This village is around 20 km away from Kulgam town and is housed at the foothills of Pir Panjal range. Many villages are situated in the crest of the mountain ridges, making them vulnerable to snow storm and avalanches because of slopes protruding from two sides making wind to whirl and trigger avalanches.
