Most people in Valasakkadu are involved in farming, which includes paddy farms, and sugar cane farms. Land available in the village are very fertile where paddy yield used to be high. This led to calling the village as Vilaichal Kadu (meaning crops grow like forest) in Tamil. Over a period of time this name turned to Valasakadu. Following are the Temples available in the village

In Mariamman Temple annual festival is celebrated in most traditional way, which is attended by all those who migrated to various parts of Tamil Nadu / country without fail. 

There is a Government school meeting the educational requirement. All schools located in the nearby towns send buses to village.

This village is a place to live in a traditional way.

How to reach: There are straight buses coming from Chidambaram via Sethiathopu. Valasakadu is 2 km from Perur. There are frequent buses available from Sethiathopu to reach Perur.
