Pavoorchatram situated in the foothills of Western Ghats, between Tuticorin and Quilon highway National highway. Pavoorchatram is 9 km (5.6 mi) east of Tenkasi and 45 km (28 mi) west of Tirunelveli, on the Tenkasi-Tirunelveli State Highway. The nearest popular train stations are Tenkasi and Tirunelveli. Pavoorchatram has a railway station .

As Pavoorchatram is connected by both road and rail, the town is growing rapidly in business and agriculture. The business of Pavoorchatram mainly depends upon agriculture. The agricultural goods, mainly vegetables and food grains, are brought to the market from the villages around Pavoorchatram and then transported to the different parts of the state and Kerala. The main crops are paddy, onion, tomato, brinjal, tamarind, green chili, red chili, coconut, mango, and snake guard. It act as a linking pin of the surrounding villages. And the Kamarajar vegetable market one of the biggest in the district. It also a leading business hub for Timbers and Tiles (roof/floor).
