Harapanahalli is a city and sub-divisional (ಉಪ-ವಿಭಾಗ) headquarters of Harapanahalli, Huvina-Hadagali, and Kotturu Taluks; and the headquarters of Harapanahalli Taluk in the Vijayanagara District. It is the second largest and fastest growing city in the Vijayanagara district in the Indian state of Karnataka. The famous Kannada humorist Beechi (Rayasam Bheemasena Rao) was born here. The place which connects Kalyana Karnataka with Middle Karnataka, Harapanahalli City have a very good transport connectivity, water facility and availability of quality education from Pre KG to Master's and it was the main trading and educational center since from Madras Presidency.

Harapanahalli is located at 14.8°N 75.98°E / 14.8; 75.98.[1] It has an Average Elevation of 633 metres (2076 feet) away from the sea-level. Harapanahalli is one of the oldest trading and education outposts - it has been around since the Madras Presidency.
As of 2001[update] India census,[2] Harapanahalli had a population of 41,889. Males constituted 52% of the population and females 48%. Harapanahalli had an average literacy rate of 55%, lower than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy was 60%, and female literacy was 48%. 14% of the population was under 6 years of age.
Harapanahalli has a railway station which was inaugurated in March 2014. It works under Southwestern Railways (UBL) with Harapanahalli lies in Hospet-Davanagere (Amaravati Colony) line. it was located in SH-150, Harapanahalli-Davanagere Road.
There are several state primary and high school's and the only CBSE school available in Harapanahalli City. College level educational institutions include pharmacy in B. Pharmacy, M. Pharmacy and research (Ph.D.) in pharmacy. Several college's with government polytechnic and 5 to 6 degree college's in Harapanahalli City and around the Taluk and many student's are from surrounding Taluk's and District's.
