Schnackenburg [.mw-parser-output .IPA a{text-decoration:none}ˈʃnackən-] ist eine Stadt im Landkreis Lüchow-Dannenberg. Sie ist Mitgliedsgemeinde der Samtgemeinde Gartow und ist die östlichste Gemeinde in Niedersachsen. Sie hat rund 550 Einwohner und erstreckt sich auf einer Fläche von 23,67 km² (Stand 31. Dezember 2020).[2] Schnackenburg ist damit die kleinste Gemeinde mit Stadtrecht in Niedersachsen und eine der kleinsten Städte Deutschlands. Eine relative Bekanntheit ergab sich während der Deutschen Teilung: Hier war ein Messpunkt für die Tauchtiefe der Elbe, die damals die Grenze bildete.[en] Schnackenburg
Schnackenburg is a town in the Lüchow-Dannenberg district, in Lower Saxony, Germany. It is situated on the left bank of the Elbe. It is part of the Samtgemeinde ("collective municipality") Gartow. Lying at the easternmost projection of Lower Saxony, the town is bordered on all sides except the west by territory that was formerly East Germany. It is the least densely populated town ("Stadt") in what was West Germany, although there are nine towns in what was formerly East Germany that are less densely populated (mostly in Brandenburg).[fr] Schnackenburg
