Située à la lisière de la forêt de Teutoburg, dans le district de Detmold, Werther se situe à environ 10 km de Bielefeld et à 375 km de Berlin (trajet routier).

C'est dans cette ville que fut inventée la célèbre confiserie Werther's Original.

Werther (Westf.) ist eine Stadt in Nordrhein-Westfalen, Deutschland, und gehört zum Kreis Gütersloh. Sie liegt im Ravensberger Hügelland am Nordrand des Teutoburger Waldes. Wegen des dort geborenen Expressionisten Peter August Böckstiegel (1889–1951) wird Werther auch als Böckstiegelstadt bezeichnet. Der Künstler lebte und arbeitete ab 1913 in Dresden, kehrte aber 1945 in sein Elternhaus zurück, wo er sechs Jahre später starb.

Werther is a town in the district of Gütersloh in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is located near the Teutoburg Forest, approximately 10 km (6 miles) north-west of Bielefeld. It is best known for the Werther's Original caramel sweets, which are nowadays produced in the nearby city of Halle. Werther has one Gesamtschule and one Gymnasium, which has an exchange partnership with a Yarm School, an independent school in Yarm, England.
