È celebre come raffinata località balneare e mondana della Côte Fleurie ("Costa Fiorita") fin dalla seconda metà dell'Ottocento. In questa località visse ed operò dal 1913 la celebre stilista Coco Chanel e nel 1966 vi fu ambientato il celebre film Un uomo, una donna di Claude Lelouch. Il 26 maggio 2011 Deauville ha ospitato il G8.

Es ist ein bekanntes Seebad mit einem bedeutenden Yachthafen. Dieser, die Pferderennbahn, die prächtigen Villen und Hotels, das Casino sowie der breite Sandstrand und seine Promenade tragen dazu bei, dass Deauville als einer der elegantesten normannischen Badeorte angesehen wird.

Deauville (French pronunciation: [dovil] (listen)) is a commune in the Calvados department, Normandy, northwestern France. Major attractions include its harbour, race course, marinas, conference centre, villas, Grand Casino, and sumptuous hotels. The first Deauville Asian Film Festival took place in 1999.[2] Deauville is regarded [by whom?] as the "queen of the Norman beaches" and one of the most prestigious seaside resorts in all of France. As the closest seaside resort to Paris, the city and its region of the Côte Fleurie (Flowery Coast) has long been home to French high society's seaside houses and is often referred to as the Parisian riviera.
