It is located in the Southern Ostrobothnia region. The municipality has a population of 2,406 (31 December 2021)[2] and covers an area of 390.71 square kilometres (150.85 sq mi) of which 36.7 km2 (14.2 sq mi) is water.[1] The population density is 6.8 inhabitants per square kilometre (18/sq mi).
