Il terremoto del 1920


Un terremoto colpì Haiyuan nel 16 dicembre 1920 (citato anche come "terremoto di Gansu"), verso le 20:06 (ora locale).

A detta degli esperti, dal punto di vista degli effetti, questo terremoto è stato classificato al massimo grado della scala Mercalli, il dodicesimo.

Le vittime furono più di 200.000.[1]

Der Kreis Haiyuan (海原县 Hǎiyuán Xiàn) ist ein Kreis der bezirksfreien Stadt Zhongwei des Autonomen Gebiets Ningxia in der Volksrepublik China. Er hat eine Fläche von 6899 km²[1] und zählte im Jahr 1999 370.734 Einwohner.[2]

Haiyuan County (simplified Chinese: 海原县; traditional Chinese: 海原縣; pinyin: Hǎiyuán Xiàn; Wade–Giles: Hai-yüan Hsien, Xiao'erjing: خَيْ‌يُوًا ثِيًا) is a county under the administration of the prefecture-level city of Zhongwei in the southwest of the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region of the People's Republic of China. It is bordered by Gansu to the west. The county has a total area of 6,897 km2 (2,663 sq mi), and a population of approximately 470,000 people as of 2019. It was the site of the 1920 Haiyuan earthquake, which killed at least 200,000 people within and outside of Haiyuan.
