Le télescope sphérique de cinq cents mètres d'ouverture se trouve dans un bassin naturel du Xian de Pingtang.

Pingtang (chinesisch .mw-parser-output .Hans{font-size:110%}平塘县, Pinyin Píngtáng Xiàn) ist ein Kreis im Autonomen Bezirk Qiannan der Bouyei und Miao im Süden der chinesischen Provinz Guizhou. Pingtang hat eine Fläche von 2.790 km² und zählt 242.000 Einwohner (Stand: Ende 2018)[1]. In der Großgemeinde Kedu befindet sich das große Radioteleskop FAST.
