    Histoire et description


    Peachland fut fondée en 1899 par John Moore Robinson alors que la région a été depuis longtemps le foyer du peuple Okanagan. Peachland est approximativement à une demi-heure en voiture de la ville de Kelowna.

    C'est une communauté en pleine croissance située en grande partie sur un versant de montagne avec des résidents venant de partout au Canada.

    Près de Peachland, l'île de Rattlesnake est le lieu où habiterait le légendaire Ogopogo.

    Peachland est approximativement à 370 km de Vancouver.

    Peachland ist eine kleine Stadt mit etwa 5000 Einwohnern im Okanagan Valley, die 1909 eingetragen wurde. Sie liegt am westlichen Ufer des Okanagan Lakes im Regional District of Central Okanagan in British Columbia, Kanada und wurde 1899 durch John Moore Robinson gegründet.[2] Die Region war aber schon zuvor von Angehörigen der Okanagan-Indianer besiedelt gewesen. Peachland liegt etwa eine halbe Fahrstunde südlich von Kelowna und etwa zwanzig Fahrminuten trennen sie von Summerland. Peachland gegenüber gelagert liegt Rattlesnake Island, die Heimat des Ungeheuers Ogopogo sein soll. Die Entfernung von der größten Stadt der Provinz British-Columbia Vancouver beträgt rund 370 Kilometer. Die Gemeindefläche beträgt 16 km²

    Peachland is a district municipality in the Okanagan Valley on the west side of Okanagan Lake in British Columbia, Canada.[4] It was founded in 1899[5] by John Moore Robinson,[6] although the region had long been home to the Okanagan people. Peachland is approximately half-an-hour's drive south of the city of Kelowna and about a 20-minute drive north of Summerland. The Okanagan Valley is very narrow in the area and there are few terraces that mark former lake levels and the former lake bottom. As a result, the city is largely located on a steep sidehill. Like many other areas in the Okanagan, Peachland is rapidly growing, with new residents coming from all across Canada. Across the lake from Peachland is Rattlesnake Island, home of the legendary Ogopogo. Peachland is approximately 370 km from Vancouver, British Columbia, on the British Columbia south coast.[7]
