    Situation


    Lake Country se trouve sur la rive nord-est du lac Okanagan et sur la rive sud du lac Kalamalka ; elle englobe aussi le lac Wood. La municipalité est située entre les cités de Kelowna (au sud) et Vernon (au nord).

    Histoire


    La région était historiquement habitée par le peuple Okanagan. Les premiers Européens découvrent les lieux au XVIIIe siècle pour la traite des fourrures. Il se développe d'abord sur le territoire de l'actuelle Lake Country des ranchs, puis des fermes[3].

    La municipalité a été constituée le avec la fusion de plusieurs communautés non incorporées, Winfield, Okanagan Centre, Oyama et Carr's Landing, qui forment de nos jours les quatre quartiers (ward) de Lake Country[3].


    Économie


    La proximité de Lake Country avec Kelowna et Vernon a permis une forte croissance démographique et économique depuis sa création[4],[5].

    Lake Country (offiziell District of Lake Country) ist eine Gebietsgemeinde („District Municipality“) im zentralen Süden der kanadischen Provinz British Columbia, dem British Columbia Interior. Die Gemeinde gehört zum Regional District of Central Okanagan.

    Lake Country is a district municipality with a population of approximately 15,000 in the Okanagan Valley region of British Columbia, Canada. It is a part of the Central Okanagan Regional District, and of the Kelowna metropolitan area. The city of Kelowna lies to the south, while the city of Vernon lies to the north. As its name suggests, there are a number of lakes in the vicinity of Lake Country, and outside the municipal boundaries in the hills to the east. Okanagan Lake defines the western boundary of the municipality, while the entirety of Wood Lake and the southernmost portion of Kalamalka Lake are encompassed by it.
