Nata agli inizi del XIX secolo col nome di Santana de Goiás si è poi sviluppata fino a diventare, oggi, la capitale economica dello Stato del Goiás.

Capitale economica dello Stato del Goiás, Anápolis si trova al centro di una pianura molto fertile è un importante centro agricolo e un polo per l'industria farmaceutica.

Anápolis, amtlich Município de Anápolis, ist nach Goiânia und Aparecida de Goiânia die drittgrößte Stadt des brasilianischen Bundesstaates Goiás und dessen industrielles Zentrum. Im Jahr 2021 lebten schätzungsweise 396.526 Menschen in Anápolis, die Anapolinoer genannt werden. Das Gemeindegebiet von Anápolis umfasst etwa 936 Quadratkilometer.[2]

Anápolis (/əˈnæpəlɪs/, Portuguese: [ɐˈnapolis]) is a Brazilian municipality of the State of Goiás. It is located between two capitals, the federal capital Brasília and state capital Goiânia. It is the third most populous city in the state, with 391,772 inhabitants according to an estimate by the Brazilian Institute of Geographic and Statistics in 2020. It is an important industrial and logistics center in the Brazilian Central-West. Its GDP is R$ 10 billion, approximately US$4.4 billion, which makes it the second largest in the state.[2] The city became an industrial power after the implementation of its Industrial District in 1970.[3]
