Castanhal, amtlich portugiesisch Município de Castanhal, ist eine Großstadt im brasilianischen Bundesstaates Pará. Sie liegt 65 km östlich der Hauptstadt Belém und ist Teil der Metropolregion Belém. Sie ist über die Bundesstraße BR-316 zu erreichen. Das Klima ist äquatorial tropisch. Die Bevölkerung wurde zum 1. Juli 2021 auf 205.667 Einwohner geschätzt, die Castanhalenser (castanhalenses) genannt werden und die auf einer Fläche von rund 1029 km² leben.[3] Sie ist bei der Bevölkerungszahl die fünftgrößte Stadt der 144 Munizips von Pará.

Castanhal is a city near the eastern edge of the state of Pará, Northern Brazil. It is located some 65 km east of the state's capital Belém and 50 km inland SE of the Bay of Marajo. It is accessed by car or bus via federal highway BR-316 . The climate is tropical rainforest. With a population around 200,000, it is the fifth largest city in the state.
