Itatiba, amtlich portugiesisch Município de Itatiba, ist eine Großstadt im brasilianischen Bundesstaat São Paulo. Sie hatte im Jahr 2010 101.471 Einwohner,[1] zum 1. Juli 2020 wurde die Bevölkerung auf 122.581 Einwohner geschätzt, die Itatibenser (itatibenses) genannt werden und auf einer Gemeindefläche von rund 322 km² leben.[1] Itatiba ist Teil der Metropolregion Campinas.

Geographie


Itatiba liegt in einer hügeligen Gegend. Die Höhe wird mit 750 Metern über Normalnull angegeben, es herrscht tropisches Höhenklima (Cwb).

Umliegende Gemeinden sind im Norden Morungaba, im Süden Jundiaí, Louveira, Vinhedo, im Osten Jarinú, Bragança Paulista und im Westen Valinhos.

Das Biom ist Mata Atlântica.

Itatiba is a municipality in the state of São Paulo in Brazil, approximately 80 km from the State Capital. It is part of the Metropolitan Region of Campinas.[2] The population is 122,581 (2020 est.) in an area of 322.28 km².[3] The average elevation is 750 m. The place's name comes from the Tupi Guarani language, and means "Many Rocks". The city is known as the "Princess of the Hill" due to its rugged terrain. According to the Federation of Industries of the State of Rio de Janeiro, Itatiba is the third city with the highest quality of life in Brazil, presenting a FIRJAN Municipal Development Index of 0.9276.[4] It is considered to be the town with the 3rd highest levels of oxygen in the air in the whole world.[citation needed] It used to be the furniture capital of Brazil.[citation needed] Itatiba also has the biggest thematic zoo in Latin America, the "Zooparque".
