    Une forte coulée a dévalé à la suite d'un orage en montagne le . Une bonne partie des 70 000 m3 ayant été retenue par un ouvrage, le village n'a pas souffert[2].

    Virgen [.mw-parser-output .IPA a{text-decoration:none}ˈfɪrɡn̩] ist eine Gemeinde im österreichischen Bundesland Tirol, Bezirk Lienz (Osttirol). Sie umfasst Teile des Virgentals in der Venedigergruppe, umfangreiche Teile des Gemeindegebietes liegen zudem im Nationalpark Hohe Tauern. Die Besiedelungsgeschichte Virgens geht auf die Zeit um 500 vor Christus zurück, wobei der Kupferbergbau eine tragende Rolle spielte. Nach dem Ende der Römerzeit siedelten sich Slawen im Virgental an, die ab dem 8. Jahrhundert nach und nach von bairischen Siedlern assimiliert wurden. Die gleichzeitig einsetzende Christianisierung führte zur Einrichtung einer der ersten Pfarren in der Region. Im Mittelalter war Virgen Teil Kärntens und der Grafschaft Görz, 1500 wurde es an Tirol angegliedert. Mit 2206 Einwohnern (Stand 1. Jänner 2022) ist Virgen heute die bevölkerungsmäßig fünftgrößte Gemeinde Osttirols. Wirtschaftlich spielt in der Gemeinde vor allem die Landwirtschaft und der Tourismus eine wichtige Rolle, wobei ein Mangel an Arbeitsplätzen sowie strukturelle Probleme zu einer sehr hohen Pendlerrate führen. Virgen wurde mehrfach als schönste Gemeinde Tirols ausgezeichnet.[1]

    Virgen is a municipality in the district of Lienz in the Austrian state of Tyrol. It includes part of the Virgen valley in the Venediger Group mountain range, and extensive parts of the municipality are in High Tauern National Park. The history of the area goes back to 500 BC, when copper mining played an important role. After the end of the Roman period Slavs settled in the Virgen valley, who were gradually assimilated by Baiuvarii settlers beginning in the 8th century. The simultaneous Christianization of the area led to the creation of one of the first parishes in the region. During the middle ages Virgen was a part of Carinthia and the County of Gorizia, and by 1500 it was annexed by Tyrol. With a population of 2,200 (as of January 1, 2020), Virgen is the fifth largest community in east Tyrol in terms of population. Agriculture and tourism both play important economic rolls, but a lack of jobs and structural problems lead to a very high commuter rate. Virgen has won awards for being the most beautiful municipality in Tyrol several times.[3]
