Lors du recensement de 2010, sa population s’élevait à 924 habitants[1]. La municipalité s'étend sur 2,33 milles carrés (6,03 km2)[1].
D'abord appelée Dallas, la ville est renommée en l'honneur de R. M. Ridgway, membre de la Denver and Rio Grande Railroad[2].

The Town of Ridgway is the home rule municipality that is the most populous municipality in Ouray County, Colorado, United States. The town is a former railroad stop on the Uncompahgre River in the northern San Juan Mountains.
