Ganzhou était la capitale de l'État ouïghour de Gansu (870 – 1035). Elle est peuplée de la minorité des Yugurs jaunes, chamanistes, qui sont les descendants des habitants du Khaganat ouïghour (744 – 848) de l'Orkhon et sont également dispersés aujourd'hui sur le Xian autonome yugur de Sunan, voisin.

Der Stadtbezirk Ganzhou (chinesisch .mw-parser-output .Hani{font-size:110%}甘州区, Pinyin Gānzhōu Qū) ist ein Stadtbezirk der bezirksfreien Stadt Zhangye im Nordwesten der chinesischen Provinz Gansu. Er hat eine Fläche von 3.690 km² und zählt 518.500 Einwohner (Stand: Ende 2018)[1]. Er ist Zentrum und Sitz der Stadtregierung von Zhangye.

Ganzhou District, formerly the separate city of Ganzhou or Kanchow, is a district in and the seat of the prefecture-level city of Zhangye in Gansu Province in the People's Republic of China, bordering Inner Mongolia to the north and northeast. Ganzhou was an important outpost in western China and, along with Suzhou (now the central district of Jiuquan), it is the namesake of the province. As a settlement, it is now known as Zhangye after the prefecture it heads. The name "Gansu" originates as a combination of Ganzhou and Suzhou (肃州).
