Geografia
La città è situata sulla riva destra del fiume Surma nel nord-est del Bengala. Ha un clima subtropicale e un rigoglioso paesaggio altopiano. La città ha una popolazione di oltre 479.837 residenti.[2]
Economia e turismo
Si tratta di una delle città più importanti del Bangladesh, dopo Dacca e Chittagong, specialmente per l'economia e per il turismo; è inoltre uno dei più importanti centri spirituali e culturali del Bangladesh.

Located on the north bank of the Surma River at the eastern tip of Bengal, Sylhet has a subtropical climate and lush highland terrain. The city has a population of more than half a million and is one of the largest cities in Bangladesh after Dhaka, Chittagong and Khulna.[2] Sylhet is one of Bangladesh's most important spiritual and cultural centres.
