Territorio y población

Comprende una superficie de 1611 kilómetros cuadrados, con una población de 85 308 personas y una densidad poblacional de 52,95 habitantes por kilómetro cuadrado.

Economía

La actividad predominante es la agricultura. Se destacan las producciones de maíz y patatas, y las explotaciones ganaderas. Por otra parte la minería. Hay depósitos de mineral de hierro, cobalto y cobre.[2]

Shamakhi District (Azerbaijani: Şamaxı rayonu) is one of the 66 districts of Azerbaijan. It is located in the east of the country and belongs to the Mountainous Shirvan Economic Region. The district borders the districts of Quba, Khizi, Gobustan, Hajigabul, Agsu, and Ismayilli. Its capital and largest city is Shamakhi. As of 2020, the district had a population of 106,400.[2]
